Engineering Manager - Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Would you like to play a key leadership role in Electrical & Electronic Engineering? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Electrical & Electronic Engineering at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As an Engineering Manager - Electrical & Electronic Engineering, you will own, develop and sustain domain capability plan(s) covering People, Process, Toolsets, Technology, Information and Facilities, and interface with Engineering Function Capability teams to ensure timely input to integrated business plans and cost excellence via the Domain Group Lead. Reporting status of delivery of such plan via the Domain Group Lead in a format to enable onward reporting including Submarines OPR, and Submarines, Maritime and Corporate functional reviews

This role will provide you with the opportunity to take control of and make a mark on a brand new role. You will help to determine the direction for this discipline for the whole business unit, across all programmes current and future.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Electrical & Electronic Engineering:

Main point of contact on all resourcing and recruitment matters for Domain Cluster. Understand the multiple programme and project demands to ensure a timely integrated supply solution as part of the overall Engineering supply solution

Agree, optimise and where necessary highlight prioritisation decisions required for the Domain / Discipline SQEP resources to meet the programmes needs and the career development of individuals to the Domain Group Lead.

Via the Domain Group lead, provide an input into the Engineering Short, Medium and Long Term Skills Analysis and Plan, in alignment with the Submarines Product, Technology, IM and Toolsets strategy

Ensure the continued technical and professional development of the engineers and designers within the associated Disciplines to achieve and sustain the necessary SQEP and thus to ensure quality of engineering activities. Manage the Professional Institution relationships particular to the Disciplines concerned with the Domain Cluster

Ownership, development and sustainment of processes within the Domain Cluster, deployed on to all programmes. To deliver governance (compliance) and ensure quality control of the application of the Domain Cluster's processes across the Programmes

Develop and maintain a plan for specialist toolsets across the Domain Cluster and input into the Domain Group's plan which in turn is integrated with the overall Engineering Toolsets strategy and plan. Ensuring ownership and optimisation of requirements for specialist facilities needed to support the Domain Cluster's ability to discharge its work. Align with the Business, Product and Technology strategies and the more immediate Domain demands from the Programmes.

To establish a technology plan for the Domain Cluster, which when integrated with the Domain Group technology plan, provides governance and optimises the development of new technology working closely with the Technology Capability team to ensure value and alignment to business direction.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Honours Degree STEM or equivalent Maritime experience

Sufficient Electrical & Electronic Engineering including communication systems experience to be able to identify all the issues involved in their area of responsibility.

Holds Professional Registration (CEng)

Desirable

Project Management experience

Understanding of engineering processes, toolsets and the organisation
