Project Leader- Manufacturing and Fabrication

Would you like to lead the deployment of new processes, systems and technologies in Manufacturing and Fabrication on behalf of Operations and Build Delivery? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Leader- Manufacturing and Fabrication at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As a Project Leader- Manufacturing and Fabrication, you will lead, co-ordinate and execute the Manufacturing & Fabrication aspect of Manufacturing Engineering (Systems) objectives and provide guidance and advice in a consistent, professional manner, taking cognisance of cost, schedule, safety and quality standards. You will also provide leadership where required on the delivery of projects or complex tasks.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to grow and shape a Manufacturing Engineering organisation from its current state, whilst supporting multi programme delivery, with a specific emphasis on deploying new or improved systems, technology or process solutions to the Manufacturing & Fabrication area, to bring it into the digital era

Your main responsibilities as a Project Leader- Manufacturing and Fabrication will involve:

Coordinating a multi-functional team of Manufacturing Engineering and business personnel in delivering required Manufacturing Engineering (Systems) projects, to the business, in a timely manner.

Managing the workload, matching demand with available capacity, working with the "Domain Manager" to prioritise projects and maintain progress against agreed milestones and delivery dates.

Providing accurate and appropriately detailed management reports such that project progress is visible and issues can be addressed in a timely manner.

Ensuring you operate in compliance with the company's code of ethics and maintain discipline in full compliance with company policies and procedures.

Completion of required leadership training courses and demonstrating correct leadership behaviours in accomplishing projects, as well as operating at the required level of performance.

Maintaining a record of, and reporting all safety related events including near misses and accidents in accordance with SHE policies and procedures.

Providing full support to Manufacturing Engineering and Build Delivery and completing additional duties as required by the Head of Manufacturing Engineering when called upon to do so.

Being a key contributor to the development of the Manufacturing Engineering Systems strategy collaborating both internally and externally.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Manufacturing Engineering experience

An understanding of how systems, technology and processes can positively impact business culture.

Strong stakeholder engagement experience and comfortable working at all levels across all functions.

Experience of working on projects with a 360 responsibility (limited information or from concept stage)

The ability to produce exact requirement up-dates and reports and interpret the returned data and push back where required.

The ability to produce work completion reports

Ability to capture and present robust requirements ensuring these are understood by all affected domains and delivered accordingly.

Desirable

Project management experience (Systems related projects desirable).

Knowledge of problem solving and root cause identification methodology.

An understanding of business architecture underpinning the operational systems.

Knowledge of relevant technologies, systems or processes within other manufacturing industries.

Good understanding of the BAE Maritime Submarines business.

You will need to be able to influence multiple stakeholders and interact confidently with senior management as well as cross functionally. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are key to the success of this role.

Salary: £37,953+
