The Opportunity
MBDA are looking for an experienced Information Systems Analyst and Technical Solution Lead to be the core of a Centre of Competence for the flagship “MatriX ALM” solution for Engineering. The MatriX toolset provides a common Engineering working environment, which enables improved access to information and collaboration across functional and national boundaries - as well as supporting our model based design approach. ALM is one part of that toolset. MatriX is live in the main MBDA National Companies: France, Italy and the UK with parts of ALM also in Germany.
 
The Role
  • The role is based around the Collaborative Lifecycle Management tools in the Jazz Team Services framework from IBM including: Rational Team Concert (RTC); Doors Next Generation (DNG); Rational Quality Manager (RQM).
  • Acting as the group-wide design authority, the role will be responsible for the technical design, configuration standards and installation standards of all ALM instances of the MatriX Hubs and segregated network installations across the international group.
  • A key responsibility is planning with the business teams the future roadmap for the tools including further integration into MatriX ALM of other IBM components including Rhapsody; continued development of the connection to the MatriX Space; and wider integration with the MatriX Product Lifecycle Management tool. The role will be instrumental in the elicitation of requirements distinguishing Strategic needs vs. Operational needs vs. Aspirations and then the specification, installation of sandbox/proof of concept environments to enable proving and validation of the technical, functional and operational solutions.
  • You will assist with the creation of the ALM Centre of Competence (CoC) setting up true international working for consultation, upgrades, 2nd & 3rd  line support, looking to exploit new possibilities that the International WAN and security allows and working closely with the business capability teams. This role will be responsible for the Information Management function’s relationship with IBM and IBM partners with which we work.
  • You will be responsible for specification of all the technical needs for the solution working with the integration and implementation teams in each MBDA national company. This includes maintaining a reference baseline standard in the UK for all other instances and for proposing and implementing improvements on the tools and processes.

What are we looking for?
  • Strong technical capability and the ability to define/analyse technical solutions. Experienced in installation and configuration of packages such as, IBM JTS/RTC with WebSphere in a virtual machine Windows server and desktop “high security” environment. Experienced in use of SQL, Active Directory. Aware of competing technologies such as UNIX that may be alternatives to Microsoft
  • You will need to be experienced working with international teams and have the ability to prompt further integration with the group teams, thinking globally and acting locally, to develop and coordinate the international team.
  • You will need to demonstrate your ability and wiliness to follow internal and external standards which apply, including business and Information Management defined practice; security requirements and recommendation; and industry good practice
  • You must have the ability to technically manage internal and sub-contract activities as well as, when required, to undertake the task directly
  • Good presentation and influencing skills are essential with a determination and desire to succeed in order to influence managers and other stakeholders across the company.
  • The MBDA international business language is English but the ability to speak another language is useful, especially French.
