Engineering Manager - Site Human Factors

Would you like to work in an exciting and critical role in Submarine Solutions where you can help shape the future of this expanding department and their activities? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Site Human Factors at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As an Engineering Manager - Site Human Factors, you will lead and manage a team responsible for site safety and all Human Factors related activities, ensuring it is incorporated into Site Safety Cases, including Nuclear Safety Cases and associated processes and procedures.

This role will provide the successful individual with the opportunity to work in a unique environment that covers a large variety of areas within Human factors. You will be joining the team at an exciting time when we are exploring new avenues of work and building our capabilities.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Site Human Factors

will involve:

Leadership of the Human Factors Team dedicated to Safety related activities and Human Reliability Analysis in relation to site facilities design and support to site safety case development

Review and maintenance of processes to ensure the quality of Human Factors (HF) outputs

Overview of HF input to site and facilities related programmes of work

Planning to ensure that schedules are understood and adhered to

Resource management to ensure appropriate skills and experience are assigned to key HF activities

Maintain an overview of HF activities under facilities

Provide management support to Hazard Identification, Safety Functional Requirements, Design Substantiation Records

Provide management support to Human Factors work carried out in support of Site Redevelopment Programme design and engineering

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager - Site Human Factors:

Degree or higher qualified in a Human Factors or Safety Related discipline e.g. Psychology, Industrial Design or equivalent experience

Experience of producing and reviewing Human Factors reports

Knowledge of Human Factors in nuclear Safety cases or other safety critical industries

Experience of Hazard Identification

Experience in conducting Human Reliability Analysis and detailed Human Error Assessments

Understanding of nuclear site licensing conditions - desirable

Experience managing a Human Factors Team and activities - desirable
