Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Lead Advisor

Would you like the opportunity to work across the whole Naval Ships unit supporting stakeholders across the business? We currently have a vacancy for a SHE Lead Advisor at our site in Portsmouth (Broad Oak)

As a SHE Lead Advisor, you will ensure the business complies with the company SHE policy and all relevant SHE regulatory requirements. You will also lead cross discipline teams of SHE Professionals across the Naval Ships sites to deliver specified packages of work/ improvement projects.

Naval Ships are currently working on a range of programmes including the latest Frigate for the Royal Navy and recently secured international contracts with the Australian and Canadian governments.

This role will cover a range of sites across the south include Filton, Frimley, New Malden Dorchester and Portsmouth so flexibility will be required in this position.

Your main responsibilities as a SHE Lead Advisor will involve:

Collaborating with key stakeholders and assisting them to integrate and embed SHE into existing / new business processes

Taking appropriate levels of internal enforcement action where there is significant risk to health and safety of personnel or damage to the natural environment

Coaching/advising Managers in the delivery of improvement plans for the SHE Management System

Liaising with Engineering (Product Safety & Environment) and Design for build safety in the identification and effective control of hazards within the design process

Supporting onsite contractors in their applications of Naval Ships SHE policy & strategy

Supporting Supply Chain in the assessment and effective management of Naval Ships supplier base

Your skills and qualifications:

NEBOSH Diploma or Safety/Environmental degree qualified essential

Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards

Relationship/Customer/Regulator/ third party Auditor

Technical and professional SHE knowledge and SHE legislation

Comprehensive knowledge of SHE Management Systems and assurance processes

High degree of technical expertise in a wide range of SHE subjects and recognised as a technical expert in more than one area of SHE (Risk Mgt, Occupational Hygiene, Management Systems, Environmental, etc.)
