Principal Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer- VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of radar products? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal RF Engineer at our site in either Great Baddow (Chelmsford) or Cowes (Isle of Wight).

As a Principal RF Engineer, you will be working on radar systems offering an in-service support contract spanning various projects. You will work across the systems life cycle from design through to manufacturing.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, varied projects with a good longevity. You will have the chance to work on some of the most cutting edge defence technology, with the opportunity to become a domain specialist.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal RF Engineer will involve:

The development of complex RF and analogue systems, sub-systems and components, from conception through to release into service

Requirement acquisition and analysis, as well as derivation of lower level requirements

Design of electronic assemblies including component selection, schematic capture and support to PCB layout

Specification of bespoke procured items

Verification of components, sub-systems, and systems using a combination of simulation, analysis, test and assurance techniques

Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes

Monitoring technical developments in relevant fields and contribute to their assessment and embodiment into product

Following the engineering lifecycle, as well as undertaking and contributing to design reviews

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal RF Engineer:

Experience in the design of systems such as: High Frequency, Radio Frequency, electronic systems or closely related experience

Degree in Electronic Engineering or closely related subject (such as Physics), or equivalent qualification or experience

Experience in a number of areas of the systems engineering lifecycle (such as design, integration, testing etc.)

You must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical information to a range of stakeholders. You must also be comfortable representing BAE Systems both in the supply chain and in the customer community.
