The technology core of the business is UK based, using manufactured parts and components from established partners within a worldwide supply chain. Our hardware designs have to deliver great looking products that our customers are proud to fit in their public-spaces; backed up by rugged engineering and cost-effective production. We are looking for a talented Design for Manufacture Engineer or Manager to lead the hardware side of our business and take on a team of 20 or so in its Midlands based plant.

This is a highly diverse role that will give the successful candidate an incredible opportunity to develop their career in senior management role with full product responsibility. The role sits at the heart of the company’s growth strategy ambitions, making this a very rare career opportunity.

The Role

Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Manager will liaise between all departments on a senior level and will be responsible for all aspects of the production of the final end product. The position requires a flair for aesthetic design in conjunction with a firm appreciation of product lifecycle and will require the successful applicant to engage in supplier selection, material evaluation and selection; manufacturing via third parties, new innovation and R&D through to production planning, scheduling, estimating, resource planning, people leadership, i.e. all aspects of product development & assembly. In addition you will assist with implementing better processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities

★ Develop world-class solutions to customer issues

★ Provide contemporary design whilst maintaining a clear concept of functionality

★ Create user friendly, documentation for Production Staff; labour estimates for tasks, including skills required

★ Create and maintain the Manufacturing Bills of Material.

★ Create Production throughput plans that are based on continuous improvement

★ Defining the contents and design of Assembly Kits required to support Production

★ Carry out investigations and reports into processes and component failure, including correspondence with

★ Engineering and Quality departments to resolve technical enquiries in a timely manner.

★ Lead technical reviews / warranty investigations and assist with implementation of corrective and

★ improvement actions with the project and production management teams.

★ Maintain global, technical standard specifications for operations in the dedicated tools.

★ Provide cost estimates for changes and implement Customer Variations / Variation Orders and

★ communicate changes to the Production and Project functions.

★ Technical compliance reviews against requirements specifications.

The Candidate

A passion for creating aesthetically pleasing, functional items for production

★ Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Design or Production Technologies or equivalent experience

★ Minimum of five years in industry i.e. Design, production, manufacture, assembly

★ You have good understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, tools, IT-Systems, CAD

★ An awareness of continuous improvement, manufacturing / production methodologies

★ Technical education, tooling, engineering, manufacturing engineering and engineering change management

★ Understanding of interfacing functions;

This position is ideally suited to a design oriented manufacturing manager or engineer who is operationally and commercially savvy. An individual that is not afraid to challenge the status quo and look at new products, manufacturing methods, materials and partners. Some who is driven by making all things better.
