Infrastructure Engineer

Would you like to play a key role for the development and support of Naval ships combat systems? We currently have a vacancy for an Infrastructure Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be working as part of a small team within Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Services (NCSISS). You will be responsible for a range of activities such as network support, software engineering, antivirus management, Windows Server management and hardware support.

This role will provide you with varied day to day activities and stakeholder interactions, alongside support for professional development.

Your main responsibilities as an Infrastructure Engineer will involve:

Day-to-day maintenance and configuration management of the Integration Support Environment (ISE)

Working as part of Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Services (NCSISS) and the development of the ISE (as and when required)

Management of the corporate network distribution within the facility

Management and system administration of the MISC broadband service

System administration of the Shared Infrastructure (SI) installations

Providing subject matter expert support to the NCSISS Integration Engineers as well as the BAE Product Development Engineers

Generating and regular updating of Build State records for the SI installations

Your skills and qualifications:

Some understanding of IP networks (protocols, switching & routing)

Some understanding of Windows domains and VM Host environments

Some understanding of C# / .Net / Web Design

Experience of computer hardware build /maintenance

You will possess excellent organisational skills, with the ability to identify and prioritise tasks, to work towards an agreed overall objective. You will also be able to 'think out of the box' in defining solutions that minimise project risk and maximise likelihood of successful implementation.
