Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Senior Engineer

Would you like to play a key role within a rapidly growing team supporting on maritime programmes, leading the way in terms of best practice? We currently have a vacancy for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Senior Engineer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Senior Engineer, you will be part of the Control Damage Hazards team, focusing on product safety and safety cases for the current and future submarine programmes, and potentially supporting Naval Ships and the wider maritime business.

This role will enable you to work with experts within hazard analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics and will provide opportunities for career development and progression within an expanding area.

Your main responsibilities as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Senior Engineer will involve:

Supporting the production of Geometry and Meshing models for Hazard Analysis e.g. fire, smoke, toxic gases and steam

Supporting Physics setup and running Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Reports

Contributing towards and producing technical CFD reports

Supporting Research and Technology projects

Providing CFD support to Control Damage Hazards Team (CDH)

Undertaking any other CFD duties required by CDH Team Lead

Your skills and qualifications as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Senior Engineer:

STEM Degree/HND or equivalent qualification or experience in Mechanical Engineering

Understanding or experience of CFD Analysis

Understanding or experience in Geometry and meshing - desirable

Experience undertaking simulations e.g. Hazard Analysis (fire and gas dispersion) - desirable

Technical Report writing skills - desirable
