Senior Engineer (Mechanical)

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer (Mechanical) at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Engineer (Mechanical), you will be responsible for and working to design and facilitate the build, test and commissioning of complex mechanical submarine systems. You will hold responsibility for interfacing with our customers and liaising with a wide supply chain to ensure that boat, system and equipment requirements are demonstrated.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in the Platform Mechanical Systems Team, delivering the current class of submarine into service and a new design of Submarine into build. You will be working on one of the most complex and technically challenging engineering products supporting UK defence.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer (Mechanical) will involve:

Delivering engineering and/or cross functional tasks or programmes of work, recognising stakeholder and customer requirements

Developing and maintaining mechanical system designs, including; BOM, diagrams, technical specifications for mechanical equipment and requirements verification/validation. In addition; produce supporting calculations and support design reviews to support system and equipment designs

Supporting the transverse engineering teams in producing documentation that underpins the design

Participating in design reviews and presentations to customers

Working with BAE supply chain and equipment suppliers to deliver equipment that meets customer requirements

Attending Factory Acceptance Trials and submarine system trials, conducting analysis of FAT and commissioning results when required

Supporting Submarine Safety case through equipment and system safety deliverables

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Engineer (Mechanical):

STEM related degree (honours)

Demonstrable experience of technical report writing and technical solutions in an engineering capacity.

Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams.

Mechanical Engineering Qualifications

Working towards Chartered status.

Experience in Nuclear, Naval, offshore or related industries

Fluid system design experience.
