Senior Operations Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Operations Engineer at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Operations Engineer, you will help determine the breakdown of the boat into buildable assemblies at finer levels of detail throughout the design lifecycle and provide the governance to assure that the plan continues to maintain the build intent (MAP).

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be a part of a design for build team working with different functions in support of the construction programme.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Operations Engineer will involve:

Co-ordinating technical information and programmes and assisting in the development of documentation.

Supporting development of department processes.

Liaising with Engineering and other technical departments.

Assisting with development of innovative process solutions.

Ensuring that timely deadlines are met.

Identifying own development opportunities.

Understanding, developing and implementing greater customer relations.

Having a clear understanding of and applying the Quality and HS&E

Management System documentation, e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc., applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules and control measures.

Your skills and qualifications:

Negotiation, persuasion and presentation skills in day to day activities

Evidenced experience of mentoring or coaching or some form of motivational capacity

Document management skills (Team centre/ SAP is a plus)

Understanding and deciphering data and IT database information

Experience of internal and external stakeholders evidenced in daily activities

Understanding technical drawing and technical data

Problem solving, root cause analysis

Working to support apprentices

Maritime - Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
