Principal Engineer - SIF (Internal Communications)

We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - SIF (Internal Communications) at our site in Barrow.

 

As a Principal Engineer - SIF (Internal Communications), you will be responsible for the test and acceptance of electronic communications systems for the submarine build, and oversee the development and maintenance of the large lab area within the facility, covering infrastructure, cabling, configuration management, and the installation and commissioning of equipment prior to test.

 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be an integral part of the submarine build, it is a new diverse team, which affords opportunity to develop within role. Due to this being a new team, there is an exciting opportunity to develop in which the way function takes direction, how processes and procedures are put in place.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - SIF (Internal Communications) will involve:

Overseeing Test and Acceptance team and programme within ICPDS department of SIF

Process Definition
Test procedures and facilities
Attending factory acceptance tests
Technical documentation
Technical presentations
Calculations
Functional System Diagrams

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer - SIF (Internal Communications):

BEng or equivalent

CEng, MIET (or be able to work towards satisfying requirements for CEng)

 

Good technical background & experience of working in the Defence, Space, Nuclear, or other high-assurance industry

Good technical knowledge of Electronics, Communications Systems and Applications

Experience of Test and Acceptance within a high assurance engineering environment

Knowledge of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, and the Engineering Lifecycle.

Experience of Quality Assurance
