Shared Infrastructure Assistant Technical Authority

Would you like to play a key role in defining the technical solution and supporting the development of the Shared Infrastructure solution for the Type 45 platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Shared Infrastructure Assistant Technical Authority at our site in New Malden.

As a Shared Infrastructure Assistant Technical Authority, you will gain exposure to a broad range of technical areas including hardware, software, systems and networking and will give vast experience across the lifecycle of a development project.

As well as relevant technical knowledge, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills and desire to progress within their role and ability to Support hands-on System Integration activities where demanded

In return, this role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to be involved in some of the most complex engineering projects in the UK, and a great opportunity to work towards a Technical Authority/System Design Authority role.

Your main responsibilities as a Shared Infrastructure Assistant Technical Authority will involve:

Support the Technical Authority in preparing specifications, developing designs in line with quality and technical standards.

Support hands-on System Integration activities where demanded.

Carry out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.

Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.

Support the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in area(s) of expertise to facilitate the development of the highest quality bids.

Support Product Design Certification activities including Product Safety & Environmental matters.

Your skills and qualifications as a Shared Infrastructure Assistant Technical Authority

Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment

Possesses some knowledge in a number of the following areas:

  • * General Combat Systems experience
  • * System Design
  • * Requirements Analysis
  • * Requirements and Acceptance process, Interface Management, Human Factors, System Performance, Networking, Software Development and virtualisation, COTS Hardware, server and blade technology.
  • Ability to write technical documents to a high standard
  • Able to pick up complex technical issues and help facilitate solutions
  • Able to work with different people with varying degrees of experience and to understand their views
  • Be able to take ownership of a task and see it through to completion
