The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Business Improvement Manager.  This role is an integral part of the Manufacturing UK Management Team and is required to be influential in the strategic evolution of the Manufacturing Organisation, its Capabilities and Practices.
 
The Role & Responsibilities
  • Create an MBDA UK Manufacturing Business Improvement and Operational Excellence ‘Brand’ and Strategy.
  • Work with the whole of the Manufacturing organisation covering all MBDA UK sites (along with any other required functions) and be the lead protagonist with respect to the creation and implementation of the MBDA UK Manufacturing Business Improvement and Operational Excellence strategy and plan that drives a Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving and Waste Reduction culture.
  • Adopt or develop a standard suite of Business Improvement and Operational Excellence tools and techniques to be deployed across MBDA UK Manufacturing in support of Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving and Waste Reduction e.g. Policy Deployment, Performance Management, 6 Sigma, Problem Solving, Workplace VisualManagement, Process Confirmation.
  • Develop all training and development materials required for supporting the implementation of the MBDA UK Manufacturing Business Improvement strategy and plan.
  • Work with the Capability Manager to link any Business Improvement requirements for the Road Map for Industry 4.0/Factory of the Future within Manufacturing.
  • Work with the IM Strategy Manager to link any Business Improvement requirements for the IM Road Map within Manufacturing.
  • As a key player in the Manufacturing Management Team, provide direction to the business to drive systematic and sustainable business improvements in all areas.
  • Implementation of best practice and benchmarking initiatives relevant to Business Improvement.
  • Working in conjunction with the Manufacturing teams, be responsible for optimising and improving the manufacturing processes and associated facilities to meet the program requirements. These must take into account factors such as Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People as well as Logistics, Process Flow, Inventory and Lead Times and be fully compatible with Process Specifications, SHE compliance & Company Governance.

What are we looking for?
  • Ideally educated to HND/Degree Level, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing discipline
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing qualification/experience would be advantageous
  • Experience in management skills
  • Excellent team working, conflict management, leadership, motivation and decision making skills and experience
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills
