Principal Engineer - Test Integration

Would you like to play a key role in the Active Vehicle Control (AVC) team, working on a complex submarine platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Test Integration

at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Principal Engineer - Test Integration, you will be working within the team who are responsible for the implementation of control systems that impact the manoeuvrability of a submarine. You will be working with whole boat systems, ensuring the complex electronics are delivered to a level of high integrity.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to own, develop and design a system, working at the forefront of innovation, using new technologies. You will have the opportunity to progress through exciting projects as the opportunities arise.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Test Integration will involve:

Integration & Test Lead for the AVC One team

Working closely with individual system owners to build & maintain a holistic view of test & integration across AVC and interface with the dedicated Systems Integration team

Preparing design calculations to demonstrate designs meet performance requirements

Supporting the generation of schematic diagrams

Supporting safety analysis

Writing of technical documentation (e.g. management plans, technical specifications, system design descriptions, functional design descriptions and diagrams)

Working across various project groups ensuring the designs meets the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements

Supporting system design reviews and spatial model reviews

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer - Test Integration:

Degree STEM or equivalent experience in electrical/electronic engineering including design

Chartered engineer or eligible for Chartership

Working knowledge of instrumentation and control system theory and how to apply controls

Knowledge of Safety principles and processes

Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering principles

Experience working on a vehicle programme - desirable
