About the role
Here at Babcock we are looking to recruit a number of Fitter & Turner Trainers on a permanent, full time basis.
This offers the chance for a Fitting and Turning professional to share their knowledge with willing learners and upskill the next generation of Royal Naval apprentices. You will be mentored and supported when in this role until you're up to speed and are able to run practical and theoretical course content. You'll also have the opportunity to gain Level 4 Teaching certification
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to have practical experience in a fitting / turning production environment - ideally recent hands on experience as you will be demonstrating a variety of engineering principles and processes related to fitting & turning.
You will need to be qualified to academically or vocationally to a minimum of C&G 3 / NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject matter.
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
- Experience in Technical Drawing, Hand Fitting, Drilling, Central Lathe Turning and Milling
- Ability to carry out Group Sessions around Lathes and Machines and then assessing individuals against practical and theoretical requirements, including providing feedback.
- Updating of training documentation and general maintenance and upkeep of fitting and turning machines and associated kit.
What else do I need to know?
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
