Senior Environmental Engineer

Would you like to play a key environmental role working across a diverse range of engineering projects within Naval Ships? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Environmental Engineer at our site in Filton, Bristol

As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you will be supporting the Head of Discipline and Chief Engineers, supplying support and advice to the project Design Engineers and other functions across the business. You will lead and co-ordinate aspects of project environmental management and assessment activity, ensuring defined objectives are achieved whilst maintaining quality and service requirements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work across a wide range of global engineering projects, to be involved at the early stages of projects which will enable you to influence and help shape design going forward.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Environmental Engineer will involve:

Providing Project Environmental (PE) support to projects as required

Developing, managing and supporting the programme of work for PE management activities and development of documentation

Supporting PE audits internal to Naval Ships

Reviewing L&R database environmental content for accuracy and gaps in commentary

Developing and delivering PE training

Attending internal and external meetings on HEEG's behalf as required.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Possesses in-depth working knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental management techniques

Good breadth of knowledge of environmental impacts and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions

Experienced in a multi- disciplined engineering environment

Degree qualified/equivalent in Environmental subject or related discipline

Desirable:

Knowledge of, and understanding of materials legislation impact, as it applies to products

Chartered Environmentalist or working towards membership
