Senior Maintenance Engineer (QEC)

Would you like to work on the newest generation of Royal Navy warships? We currently have a vacancy for Senior Maintenance Engineer at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a member of the Maintenance Team you will be responsible for producing detailed and optimised maintenance routines by tempering source data held within the UMMS database with the latest analysis of the material state for the Class. You will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a platform engineering discipline (ME, WE, Aux or L) to identify improvement opportunities. You may also be required to mentor less experienced members of the Team.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Maintenance Engineer will involve:

Produce optimised Maintenance work-packages (encompassing Fleet Time Planned and Unplanned and Upkeep) for allocated platform(s), ensuring that the task information is correct and the work is required, provides value for money, meets product safety requirements and can be readily planned and estimated by the delivery teams

Maintain continuous Material State Assessment for designated platform / systems, undertaking impact analysis and preparing briefs for COM managers

Reflect maintenance pertaining to Classification and registers within the work package

Interrogate UMMS regularly to complete all workflows for specified work package(s) as well as looking ahead to identify maintenance that requires long term planning.

Support the Maintenance Manager and Platform Manager to ensure that the Customer's annual budget is correctly targeted

Propose OPDEF and DEFREP responses within maintenance scope for the Class or designated platform / systems, engaging with all stakeholders across the wider Enterprise (Customer / Partner / Supplier communities) and with peers and Engineering Managers within BAE Systems to expedite rectification

Draft Technical Queries (S2022s, etc.) within maintenance scope for the Class or designated platform / systems, as required, communicating with COM Maintenance management team, COM WTA, DE&S (SCA, MCS and MSS and their Contractors)

Provide focus to the planning and coordination of Test and Trials

Identify and report upon maintenance data (e.g. within UMMS, Trilogi, Tech Docs) that is outdated, poor or inconsistent

Ensure consistent application of engineering governance

Your skills and qualifications:

Possess in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals within the maintenance engineering discipline, including industry and MoD maintenance management tools and processes in a maritime environment or other complex engineering business (Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Vehicles, etc.)

Degree/HND or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline

UMMS database or similar experience - highly desirable

Knowledge of RCM and ILS principals - desirable
