Data Quality & Governance Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Data Quality & Governance Engineer at our site in Scotstoun.

BAE Systems Naval Ships team are currently working on one of the biggest projects in the UK defence market right now. You have the opportunity to make your mark on the Type 26 Global Combat Ship programme where we are proudly constructing the next generation of frigate for the Royal Navy. We are also demonstrating our export capability through the Hunter Class Frigate Programme in Australia and the Canadian Surface Combatant Programme.

This role is a key part of the data management team supporting the Type 26 programme which is generating high volumes of data as development of the design of the ship progresses. The Data Quality & Governance Engineer will work closely with key stakeholders within the programme to identify the key systems and their data entities in the end to end process for product data. They'll create and maintain functional Information Asset Registers and identify a community of Data Owners, Stewards and Custodians.

Additionally it is responsible for supporting the T26 programme on understanding their data quality issues and providing support and advice on how they are to be resolved. Ultimately the role will drive the business understanding of the data flows and their dependencies, influencing behavioural change to ensure that data quality and governance becomes embedded in the programme's culture.

Your main responsibilities as a Data Quality & Governance Engineer:

Lead the delivery of the Date Governance / Assurance framework to the Type 26 Programme including the Naval Ships Business Glossary

Lead in the coordination of resources supporting and implementing Data Quality Management and Governance/Assurance initiatives including data owners and stewards

Lead in the development of measures for assessing the benefit to the business of data governance and assurance, periodically measuring the effectiveness and feeding it back to senior management

Delivery of data governance and assurance awareness and training across the business

The creation of the programme's data models and Information Asset Register

Your skills and qualifications:

Previous experience in implementing Data Governance and Assurance

Experience in using Data Management / Governance toolsets

Experience of using Information Analyser and ability to interrogate scripts

Experience in Data Requirements Capture and Documentation

Sound IT skills particularly MS Project; MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Visio
