Would you like to be part of something exciting and make a difference? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Quality Engineer at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be supporting the Dreadnought Quality strategy by conducting quality assurance activities including the maintenance of the Quality Management Plan and Inspection & Test Plan, support to quality risk development, internal quality assurance audits and activities.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the Dreadnought Programme and work with a variety of Functions to ensure Quality is maintained.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Quality Engineer will involve:

Supporting the Dreadnought Programme to ensure that it is working in accordance with the contract quality requirements

Supporting the update of the Quality Management Plan and Inspection & Test Plan

Leading Audits and Investigations

Managing corrective actions

Identifying and supporting quality risk

Supporting Quality functions to ensure readiness for all stages within the lifecycle

Quality Assurance support to all Dreadnought business functions and processes

Your skills and qualifications:

Experienced in undertaking internal audits (Lead auditor Qualification preferable but not essential)

ISO 9001:2015 knowledge & ideally have had some quality training or understanding of the tools and techniques associated with Quality (e.g. Process Mapping, Lead Audit, RCA, Lean, Six Sigma etc.)

Experience in using Quality Improvement Tools and techniques to improve process performance

The ability to work cross functionally and to build a rapport with people in order to work together for the benefit of the business and the ability to tailor effectively communicate at all levels of the business

An understanding of standards and Engineering output

IT Literate with a knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and the ability to update databases

An understanding of Quality requirements, Quality Management plans and Inspection & Test plans

Understanding of manufacturing processes

Understanding of the Dreadnought Programme

You will have the ability to build relationships within the team and the business, working autonomously at times under your own initiative is also key to this role. You will also have the ability to be authoritive, whilst maintaining a positive working relationship.

Maritime - Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
