Project Engineering Manager - Business Winning

Would you like to play an exciting role in the support of new bids and existing contracts for Weapons Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineering Manager - Business Winning at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Project Engineering Manager - Business Winning, you will be working within the Project Engineering team to support the M777 Howitzer programme, amongst other Weapon Systems bids and projects. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers whilst ensuring your assigned programme satisfies the requirements of the customer in terms of cost, quality and timescales.

This role will give you the opportunity to see the bids from start to finish with hands-on exposure to the product. You will also have the chance to travel internationally and progress your career within the Weapon Systems domain. This could also be a great development opportunity, for the right candidate.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Engineering Manager - Business Winning will involve:

Develop Engineering Bids to support Business Development

Leading a team of Engineers and Designers on a major project, as required to service the needs of new and ongoing projects

Writing Technical/Business proposals in support of achieving new or follow-on business, including engineering estimating

Planning and managing assigned budgets

Manage the end to end Engineering process for Business Winning Opportunities.

Provide Engineering inputs to the Business Winning Process, including Approvals and Governance.

Representing Weapons Systems (UK) as Design Authority where appropriate, to oversee the production of cost-effective engineering solutions to satisfy the technical requirements of a contract

Developing strong links with applicable customers to underpin our commitment to customer satisfaction and to assist in identifying and maximising the potential of new business opportunities

Acting as an assessor within own specialist area, or support the planning of and carrying out of phase reviews

Acting as an Independent Design Review chair on other projects, as required

Your skills and qualifications as a Project Engineering Manager - Business Winning:

Essential:

SHE and Product Safety awareness

Demonstrable experience of managing engineering teams

Engineering background in either systems, mechanical or electrical disciplineGood Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent package for estimating and planning emerging products

Good Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent package for estimating and planning emerging products

Experience of design reviews either through acting as an assessor within own specialist area or planning of and carrying out phase reviews

Desirable:

BAE Systems Lifecycle Management

You must also be prepared to travel internationally to support bids and projects.
