About the role

Energy & Marine is a business unit within the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group. E&M is a leading technical services consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, system engineering, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine and defence markets worldwide. Within this business unit, Naval Engineering have vast experience in engineering, construction, concept design and through life support for a wide range of front line naval and auxiliary support vessels.

What do I need to do the role?

You'll need experience of working in engineering design in a drawing office environment and practical experience of ensuring a safe working environment within health and safety policies and procedures.

You will also need to have experience in the following areas:

  • Professional day to day management of design tasking within Energy and Marine.
  • Line manage and develop a team of 5+ staff
  • Managing defined projects to ensure that they are delivered to time cost and quality
  • Ensuring appropriate governance is applied across all activities within sphere of responsibility and that all quality procedures and systems are adhered to
  • Chair and represent the business at design, technical and commercial reviews as required

Lastly, you'll need to be qualified to HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline, ideally with extensive marine experience, ideally qualified to APM Level 5 or equivalent and ILM Level 5 or equivalent.

Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.
