Electrical Engineering roles at the Health & Safety Executive are anything but textbook. The range of experience and expertise you’ll be exposed to here - often from one day to the next - will act as the launchpad for a truly rewarding career.
You can look forward to challenges that range from high-profile investigations and functionality tests to report-writing and giving evidence in court. We work with governments at home and overseas, as well as in partnership with commercial organisations in different sectors, so you’ll be constantly presented with the unexpected.
But most of all, the pride, passion and positivity you’ll feel knowing you are contributing to keeping the UK population safe and healthy in their place of work will be unmatched anywhere else.
Based at our bespoke, testing facility in Buxton, Derbyshire, you’ll develop and undertake electrical research and testing programmes to support incident investigations and research/test projects; work with agencies such as the police, attending incident sites and acting as expert witness when cases reach court; and build relationships with potential customers, developing proposals and presenting technical solutions.
Who you are
Whether you’re a professional with some experience or a graduate straight out of university, you’ll need a degree in Electrical Engineering, impressive technical problem-solving skills, fundamental theoretical knowledge and the ability to apply it practically to whatever challenge an investigation throws your way.
The rewards you can expect
In return, you’ll receive excellent benefits, high-quality training and development and the opportunity to work with - and learn from - very highly qualified colleagues who are only too willing to share what they know.
