Senior Project Manager
Would you like to manage major Sonar programmes for the UK's most advanced submarines working with in-service, in-build and future build submarines including the UK's future Deterrent platform? This will include working with a wide variety of stakeholders with both the MoD customer and the supply chain. BAE Systems' Underwater Surveillance team currently has a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager to be based at one of our southern sites Frimley, Weymouth, Filton, Bristol or Portsmouth.
As the Senior Project Manager you will manage significant sonar programmes across the life cycle. You will provide direction to a small team of project managers and work with Engineering, Commercial and the Supply Chain teams to ensure all are delivering to project schedule, budget and quality targets.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with the MoD as well as Tier 2 and 3 defence contractors working collaboratively to deliver a coherent Underwater Surveillance solution to meet UK's current and future the submarine platform needs. The role would benefit from previous defence sector experience and knowledge of the UK sonar Enterprise would be advantageous.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Manager will involve:

Responsible for managing budgets including forecasting future spend profiles and resource requirements

Ensuring the programme has the appropriate risk and opportunity management

Developing programme schedules with your project management team in consort with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams to manage the successful delivery of BAE Systems' sonar programmes

Developing and implementing a strategy for supplier engagement, coordinating the release of Invitations to Tender, assessing proposals and managing the chosen supplier to the contract

Engaging, influencing MoD and industry stakeholders.

Responsibility for Health and Safety.
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Project Manager:

Proven track record of Project Management delivery including previous experience with managing budgets and delivering to cost and schedules

Experience selecting and managing the Supply Chain

Leadership experience

Experience in delivering complex systems

Skills in Influencing and stakeholder management

Developing supply chain initiatives would be desirable

Bid/Tender experience would be desirable

Degree, a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Project Management

You will be self-motivated, diligent and positive with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be open to ideas and will be willing to proactively extract information while managing multiple stakeholders.

Ideally you will have experience of working in the defence sector, with specific knowledge of the sonar industry.

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers.
