Principal Engineer (Vehicle Control)

Would you like to work on the most complex Project ever attempted in the UK? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Vehicle Control) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Principal Engineer (Vehicle Control), you will be encompassing almost every aspect of the Successor submarine, and offering opportunities to gain experience in the widest range of engineering disciplines.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within and across team boundaries, diverse skills and views need to be synthesised into a coherent single design.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer (Vehicle Control) will involve:

Understanding what are the challenges to developing and justifying the design at Whole Boat, system and sub-system level

Facilitating collaboration between engineering teams

Maintaining progress against the Engineering Plan

Working with Engineering & Project Managers to achieve deliverables that align with the design and take an active lead on evolving Principles of Operation for the submarine

Demonstrating that the submarine meets all Requirements safely and effectively in all operating circumstances

Your skills and qualifications:

Degree (Honours) or equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related discipline

Demonstrable knowledge of engineering design integrated systems at whole platform level

CEng or working towards

Demonstrable ability to collaboratively lead on projects

Inquisitive in engineering disciplines beyond their core domain expertise

Demonstrable experience with liaising crosses functionally/departmentally

Submarine domain knowledge - desirable

Experience of integrating manoeuvring control related systems - desirable

Maritime - Submarines
