Engineering Manager-Standards

Would you like to play a key leadership role in Engineering - Standards? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Standards, at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the Management of an engineering programme or project consisting of a number of major engineering systems, disciplines, platform assemblies, equipment or software products. Roles are differentiated through the size of projects managed as measured though, annual cost/budget, IBP value and volume of resources managed.

The Engineering Standards Department provides a central service that supports multiple submarine programmes. It develops and governs the models, drawings, parts catalogue and standards documentation. This enables the Engineering Teams to design, integrate and produce outputs that enable the procurement, manufacture, build test and support activities to be sentenced.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence the direction of one of the key services within the business from a policy processes and technology perspective and progress through career frame work through broad exposure, and experiences.

 

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will involve:

Managing/Leading a Team of 30 plus cross discipline designers, APL's, PLS and Admin Staff

Provide a central engineering standards "service" in support of multiple submarines programmes (Astute and Dreadnought), throughout their product lifecycle; which includes, design, detailed engineering integration, generation of outputs, manufacturing, installation and the commissioning stages, plus through life support to external customers.

The service provided by standards includes the development, production, management and governance of Standards Documentation (including drawings), Library Parts Models and consultation/advisory services in support of the above.

Your skills and qualifications:

Degree Qualified or relevant experience

Excellent detailed Engineering cross discipline knowledge

A good understanding of the product lifecycle beyond Engineering

Ability to coordinate and facilitate the resolution of cross discipline/functional issues

A customer focussed approach, good knowledge of Foran and Teamcenter (how they are used in the context of Standards related activities), an understanding of SAP and the Supplier Enquiry Notification Process and an understanding of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) Process
