ESS Technical Support Engineer

Would you like to provide IT technical support to the RAF? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Support System (ESS) Technical Support Engineer at our site in RAF Coningsby.

There is an exciting and challenging role opening within the Typhoon Total Availability enterprise (TyTAN) to deliver and maintain ESS to the RAF customer through In-Service Support, Capability Upgrades, and Continuous Improvements. Working as part of the ESS Technical Support Engineering Team under the Technical Information Manager for TyTAN, the successful candidate will work towards providing customer support and guidance across forward and depth maintenance operations, and assisting the deployed RAF community to ensure continued Operations.

The role is based at RAF Coningsby, with travel to other RAF and BAE Systems sites as and when required.

Your main responsibilities as ESS Technical Support Engineer will involve:

Provides support to the Typhoon Squadrons, and Ground Support Systems (GSS) Flights through the delivery and sustainment of the ESS on Station at Coningsby, and the additional bespoke ESS instances within the Typhoon Force.

Offering subject matter expert advice across TyTAN, BAE Systems, and the RAF Station, 1Gp and DE&S personnel regarding all matters involving the ESS.

Maintenance and operation of the hardware and software related to ESS at RAF Coningsby.

Advice & technical support in relation to installations and configuration of the ESS systems at RAF Coningsby, or in the deployed sphere.

Establish relationships and strong communications with the RAF GSS Administrators and Typhoon Sqn personnel.

Utilise experience and Engineering judgement to make decisions and act upon the laid down processes and work instructions to maintain a safe and airworthy ESS.

Plan and organise working activities, with or without supervision, to detail and present to the team leader.

Your skills and qualifications as an ESS Technical Support Engineer:

Experience and a demonstrated ability to deliver in a service or availability based Experience working with ESS or GSS.

A background in database processing.

Strong IT skills, with knowledge or experience with SQL, Oracle, Windows Server, and an understanding of server architecture and network storage.

An understanding of a military environment / Typhoon fast jet is advantageous.

Ability to communication skills to interface directly with the customer community across the RAF, MOD, and industry maintenance domains, whilst ensuring the output meets the exacting standards BAE Systems demands.

Experience working in a fast paced customer service environment is advantageous.

Experience working on an RAF Base desirable.
