ILS IKM Engineering Manager

Would you like to be at the heart of providing ILS Data Services for key Class types across the Royal Navy fleet? We currently have a vacancy for an ILS IKM Engineering Manager at either our Filton or Portsmouth sites.

As ILS IKM Engineering Manager you will be involved with the ILS/ IKM programme which supplies an integrated data solution to the MOD for the Data Integration Platform and Data Integration Service projects. Initially focused on the Queen Elizabeth Class, you will also be part of plans to extend this service to Type 45 and other RN Platforms, working with key stakeholders such as the MoD, Warship Support, the ILS function and other internal functions across the Maritime Services business.

This role will provide you with experience and exposure to the very latest innovations around integrating ILS and IKM for QEC, Type 26 and Type 45, embedding modern digital support into the Common Support Model, whilst being at the vanguard of delivering modern data management into the MoD.

Your main responsibilities as an ILS IKM Engineering Manager will involve:

Requirements Management: decomposing SRD, understanding acceptance criteria and what evidence will be needed for V&V - possibly running a VCRI (TBD)

Solution architecture: to understand MOD ILS BPs and ASD series, to understand how we work, capture processes, develop any new ones needed, set the IKM requirements and integrate the IKM solution to the ILS solution to deliver the DIS architecture

Ensuring developed solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled and delivered, including resolution of conflicts and integration issues that occur through development and delivery phases.

Performing appropriate engineering planning, management and review activities to ensure Products are integrated, safe, and fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule.

Tailoring design review process, setting up and running design reviews

Ensuring product safety, DIS and DIP are safe

Identifying risks to delivery and engaging appropriate stakeholders to develop and enact mitigations.

Articulating the IKM solution and identifying opportunities to maximise the benefits of a digitally supported ship.

Leading ILS/IKM Technical Working Group.

Managing disparate and often conflicting requirements and behaviours of the senior MoD customer community, while building trust and credibility within the stakeholder community.

Capturing and capitalising on LfE from other projects

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Ability to understand ILS Business Processes / Supportability Engineering and the generation of support products and services

Capability to manage the integration between the process and IT solution

Well-developed knowledge and awareness of IKM and the systems used to manage data in service

Desirable

Experience of systems engineering as applied to Service Systems

Good Understanding of Maritime Services, the MOD and Ship Support

A strong understanding of design life-cycle process (both phase review and design review)

Experienced in engineering/technical leadership role

In addition you will also be highly effective in influencing and negotiating with others, particularly in securing the resources and support to manage customer requirements and schedule demands. Ability to work under pressure, manage work on multiple projects and effectively resolve conflicting priorities and deadlines are also critical.
