Role Title and Location: Head of Systems (SPEAR-EW) - Stevenage or Bristol

  • Able to represent the business and make appropriate trade-off decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead, manage and influence the programme technically and programmatically
  • Strong leadership skills to manage disparate engineering skills and skill levels, and communicate effectively with engineers of varying disciplines
  • Strong decision making and planning skills to the team to provide a robust and quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Broad systems engineering background covering all phases of development but focused on early development being able to distil the key technical needs.
  • Preferred understanding of RF / Electronic Warfare technologies and concepts of use.

The Role
  • Responsible for leading the Systems Engineering activities for the development of the SPEAR variants.
  • Leading and managing the tasks and relationship with key supplier (Leonardo) for integration of a new subsystem
  • Monitor schedule and cost adherence of Systems Team and externally tasked activities
  • Interfacing with DSTL and others in the customer community
  • Supporting wider SPEAR export and co-development campaigns
  • Supporting development of alternative SPEAR variants and spiral development options.
  • Support interviews and performance appraisals
