The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a dynamic and unique multi-national function managing MBDA’s interface and definition of future project Supply Chain Architectures.  This is for an experienced individual with a mind-set for strategy and innovation. The successful candidate will be driving forward with the mission to identify and develop a high performing innovative supply chain aligned to MBDA business objectives.   This role will consider applicants in either our Stevenage or Bristol sites.
 
The Role
The role has multiple facets is to ensure proper implementation of industrial policies and make/ buy strategies for the Future Projects Missiles Equipments and system, and contribute to shaping the future competitive and innovative MBDA industrial footprint & supply chain – in coordination with Group & National requirements.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Support Future Systems Project Teams to shape the Supply Chain and develop Industrial workshare.
    • Ensure make-buy and industrial policies are applied in early phase of projects.
    • Provide supplier performance, capability and risk assessment, with support from Supply Chain Management.
    • Promote and support Industrial footprint rationalization initiatives supporting MBDA Industrial Policies and target Supply Chain Architecture – taking into account and supporting offset policies.
       
  • Provide Supply Chain capability in support of future programmes
    • Contribute proactively, to the strategic sourcing opportunities and industrial architecture roadmaps for key future programmes.
    • Contribute proactively to the strategic sourcing opportunities and industrial architecture roadmaps to major mid-life update programmes.
    • Present (with Major Equipment Procurement) the Industrial and Sourcing Plans of Future Systems programmes for PGi approval.
    • Contribute to business forecast for major equipments driven by central forecast team, consolidate at project level and embed with project business teams.

  • Lead, for supplied equipments, Project Industrial activities during Future Systems concept phase and transition into development, in support of MEP and the Head of Manufacturing.
    • Influence Industrial solution and supply chain architecture at early stage during project concept design and producibility activities.
    • Determine the project Industrial Requirements and embed within Suppliers Statement of Work (SOW).
    • Support Procurement and Project Team to evaluate, develop and accept Suppliers proposals, specifically related to supplier manufacturing & industrial plans.
    • Support Suppliers in undertaking Industrial Validation activities, such as; Systems/Design/Process FMEAs, MRL assessments, Manufacturing working groups etc to ensure that robust and comprehensive industrial solutions can be developed.
    • Ensure the development and implementation of Supplier Manufacturing Inspection and Test architectures and processes in line agreed Supplier manufacturing plans.
    • Generate industrial risks & opportunities register, including risks to UPC and delivery schedule.
    • Facilitate operational involvement of suppliers during development to promote co-specification methodologies across projects.
    • Support Supplier Chain Manager “SCM” case by case.
    • Ensure that obsolescence and Mid-life Updates are managed and VMS impact assessed at system level.
  • Provide bid for Suppliers Industrial Manager costs into Manufacturing work package estimate and contribute to monthly time now updates and regular Cost at Completion reviews.
  • Direct, coach and lead less experienced colleagues.

What are we looking for?
  • Engineering or Business Qualification, preferably to Degree level.
  • Substantial project or industrial experience in Defence related or similar international businesses.
  • Strategic and Innovative mindset.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain principles, practices and processes.
  • Experienced in Product and Process Risk Management.
  • Good understanding of Project Management principles, practices and processes.
  • Good commercial and financial understanding, ability to manage budgets.
  • Very good negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels.
