Mechanical Handling Equipment - Solutions Manager

Having revolutionised the online grocery shopping market, Ocado is now engaging in exciting new business opportunities, implementing innovative fully automated warehouses for clients around the world.

We are now looking to expand our Warehouse Project & Design team, actively looking for a MHE (Mechanical Handling Equipment) Solutions Manager. In this position you will have a key focus on the MHE equipment required for our new automated warehouses, identifying, developing and evaluating business requirements and delivering the most efficient and productive solution.

Preparing tender documentation will be a key part of this role, leading the tender process from negotiating and agreeing pricing and delivering to budget costings on equipment purchased externally. Challenging vendors and internal stakeholders in order to reduce capital and whole life costs, improve ergonomics, safety, integration and maintainability for each warehouse.

Modelling site sizes and assets, you will be collaborating and leading projects with many different managers and teams including stakeholders and clients, other engineering teams such as realisation, technology, automation and product development to ensure that projects are delivered successfully. You will also act as a centre of excellence for externally sourced MHE within the Design team, supporting and mentoring other designers in best practises and technical content.

To apply for this dynamic and varied role an engineering degree that includes mechanical and electrical elements is required. Project management experience is essential, ideally within automation, mechanical handling or production facility projects with the ability to adapt and change priorities in a fast paced environment. You also need to have had exposure to holding commercial responsibilities such as contracts, negotiating pricing and terms. Analytically minded you will have excellent communication and leadership skills.
