An exciting opportunity has arisen working in the Thermal Paint discipline in the ShadowWorks. This department resides within Defence Manufacturing Engineering.

The Thermal Paint capability within ShadowWorks provides thermal paint preparation, application, acquisition and data analysis across the Defence Aerospace business sector as well as additional support to the Civil Aerospace business sector and to a variety of external customers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Preparation of Thermal Paint
  • Application, acquisition and analysis of thermal paint data.
  • An understanding and awareness of thermal paint colour interpretation and analysis techniques, including factors influencing results.
  • Management of thermal paint process in line with RRMS.
  • Agreeing customer requirements and providing technical solutions utilising thermal paints and associated technologies.
  • Responding to customer enquiries for orders of thermal paint products.

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • Educated to at least HNC/HND level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of work processes within a technical environment
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine Engines
  • Ability to work well within a Team environment
  • Proactive / customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Experience with 3d modelling / image capture systems is not essential but would be advantageous
  •  

The successful candidate will undertake a training programme to gain the necessary skills associated with the application of Thermal Paints and other surface measurement coatings to test components. Therefore, previous experience with thermal paint and similar technologies is not essential but would be beneficial.

The role would be based in Bristol, but the candidate must have the flexibility to travel to suppliers for short-term progressing and audit support where required.
