Maintenance Engineer ILS

Would you like the opportunity to work directly and jointly with the UK MoD, Royal Navy and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders on the next generation T26 Frigates? We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer (ILS) at our BAE Scotstoun site (Glasgow) or Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a member of Type 26 Support organisation you will be working within a team responsible for influencing the operability and maintainability of the T26 Global Combat Ship, analysing systems, assuring the design, deriving maintenance and contributing to the support products required by the platform in service.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your Supportability Engineering capabilities within a dynamic and challenging environment, and to be involved in the development of a support solution for a complex platform. It is also a great chance to gain experience in an engineering discipline that addresses the complete system, and one that will also give you exposure to customer, business and supplier dynamics as part of the wider T26 project.

A Type 26 Frigate variant is also under development for the Australian and Canadian Navies with support from the T26 UK team providing opportunities to work with our overseas business and their partners in developing their support solution.

Your main responsibilities as a Maintenance Engineer ILS will involve:

Working across a variety of engineering support disciplines and capabilities (design data, manufacturing data, schematics, technical reports and configuration)

Working with an ILS database (EAGLE) to input and manipulate data providing configured linked assets and integrated support products

Verification and validation of sub-contractor engineering data deliverables

Working across various disciplines to contribute to the production of quality Integrated Logistic Support products

Supporting FMECA's, maintenance schedules, technical publications, production of technical reports to support analysis and derived maintenance, configuration and maintenance task instruction writing

Your skills and qualifications as a Maintenance Engineer ILS:

Essential:

Degree/ HNC or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering or Science based discipline

Knowledge and experience of Electrical / Mechanical systems

Ability to manipulate digital data ensuring the digital twin of the platform is configured and maintained

The ability to identify & mitigate issues in the development of engineering solutions

Ability to read and analyse schematic diagrams

Ability to analyse technical problems and provide solutions within the digital environment

Ability to compile accurate technical reports

Good Knowledge of Engineering Principals and understanding of the ILS suite of disciplines

Desirable:

Experience of utilising databases and understanding configuration requirements

Knowledge of the Support environment for military equipment

Familiar with product design and build processes

Experience within a maintenance/ maintainer role from a marine environment such as shipbuilding, ship support or oil and gas, although Supportability experience from other areas is equally relevant and welcome.

Familiar with production of support products such as maintenance schedules, technical documentation, FMECA, LORA. We will provide relevant training for any of the above desirables required for your role
