The software Integration team provides software build, test rig management, system integration and software release services for a number of projects supplying naval combat system equipment (CSE). As a Principal Software Integration Engineer, you will be integrating a Windows-based Naval Combat Management System on a networked virtualised shared infrastructure or black-box PC based system architecture. This role will also provide you with opportunities to work at land-based UK test sites and on board Royal Navy ships. You will get the chance to work closely with subject matter experts on a number of interesting programmes as having the opportunity to develop Senior Software Engineers and lead tasks and investigations.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Software Integration Engineer will involve:

Integrating software applications into system builds

Installing software on local integration facilities

Supporting systems at UK test sites and on board Royal Navy ships

Demonstrating system integrity with both scripted and informal testing

Supporting usage of representative target hardware

Releasing system builds for use on ship

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Familiar with Windows 7/10/Server 2008/2012/2016 functionality
  • Ability to methodically investigate a symptom to understand and isolate the root cause
  • Ability to quickly understand how areas of a complex system work
  • Able to influence new approaches and advise on new tools
  • Knowledge of Ada, C++ or C# software languages
  • A solid background within Integration

Desirable:

  • Experience with Virtual machines and VMware

What we're looking for in you:

You will be an excellent problem solver, capable of applying past experience to support the understanding and investigation of new issues. Your determination will ensure you are not fazed by complexity. Your communication and interpersonal skills will include the ability to work effectively with others.
