Senior Engineering Manager

Would you like to be responsible for shaping the engineering side of the Combat Systems Equipment Group across build and in service submarine platforms for the future? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineering Manager - CSEG (North) at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Engineering Manager - CSEG (North), you will be play a pivotal role in the management and integration of multi-disciplined engineering teams; leadership of engineering resources and the delivery of packages of work/services, involving new products and/or complex upgrades.

As a Senior Engineering Manager this role will enable you to manage and contribute to the successful delivery of projects to meet customer and contractual obligations for cost, quality, timeliness and specification and place you in a position of authority over the resolution of engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineering Manager - CSEG (North) will involve:

Leading and managing engineering staff ensuring each team member is assessed, developed, deployed and skilled to maximise their personal contribution and to meet the requirements of contracts, schedules and specifications.

Ensuring developed solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled and delivered, including resolution of conflicts and integration issues that occur through development and delivery phases.

Identifying resource requirements through the lifecycle of the project and managing engineering resource within agreed limits.

Defining, planning, managing and delivering assigned Engineering programmes of work which meet programme, business and customer requirements.

Performing appropriate engineering planning, management and review activities to ensure

Products are integrated, safe, fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule.

Ensuring capability and skills development, performance optimisation and maximisation and efficient use of engineering and functional resources

Ensuring all engineering activities are undertaken in line with the Operational Framework and that compliance with all engineering policies is maintained.

Signing off for design, legal and technical requirements for a project or service

Using learning from experience (LfE) to continually improve processes and practices, reducing waste and improving efficiency

Your skills and qualifications:

Proven experience managing diverse teams of engineers

Experience in executing lifecycle management frameworks

Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status would be desirable

Electrical / electronic engineering background desirable
