Principal Hardware Engineer and Senior Hardware Engineer

We currently have vacancies for a Principal Hardware Engineer and Senior Hardware Engineer at our sites in New Malden, Broad Oak, Dorchester or Frimley

As a Hardware Engineer, you will undertake a wide range of hardware design, development & support activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements under the direction of the Hardware Engineering team leader.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to design, develop and support equipment across a variety of Royal Navy platforms and to support campaigns for future upgrades.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Hardware Engineer could involve:

Build, assembly and installation of consoles & cabinets containing COTS equipment to authorised design & installation specifications

Support hardware related test & acceptance activities and produce material in support of Product Safety & Design Certification activities

Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements.

Contribute to process improvement within the operational and/or engineering team to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation.

Liaise with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters.

Your skills and qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in COTS hardware design and PC technology including networking technology, utilising both Ethernet and serial interfaces.

Experience with COTS cabinets, cabinet design, wiring schedules, power distribution etc.

Experience of assembly of system consoles, cabinets, internal components & wiring including installation in lab spaces & on ship.

Knowledge of the currently deployed combat system equipment architecture or similar Naval combat systems based on COTS technology across the lifecycle phases including physical aspects

Experience in Product Safety & a good understanding of Design Certification
