IBM Cognos TM1 Developer

Would you life to be a the forefront of some of our newest technology? An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Software Developer within the TM1 team at our site in Glasgow or Portsmouth.

As a part of this small team you will be re-developing current models and building new solutions with the potential to play part in a planned TM1 upgrade. You will be looking at business data and information requirements in line with company needs. Your work in this team will transform the way we report financial and non-financial information to a variety of stakeholders allowing the business to make informed decisions.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity within the business in a fast paced, future facing role in an ever growing function within BAE.

As a TM1 Developer your main responsibilities will involve:

Delivering reliable, scalable, and efficient IBM Cognos TM1 Solutions, with involvement in all phases of the software development life cycle.

Maintaining and supporting the existing TM1 models, evolving and improving them through the defined change management process to keep pace with the latest technology upgrades.

Supporting the 'TM1 Champions' within the business and the wider user community by providing training, best practice and TM1 knowledge transfer.

Supporting dimension management, metadata design/maintenance, ETL and interface development, and data validation processes.

Proactively identify process improvement opportunities, helping the business to drive innovation and the adoption of TM1 where appropriate.

As a TM1 Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Educated to degree level (or with relevant technical experience) in a related subject

IBM Cognos TM1 experience in developing end-to-end analytics solutions, including system configuration, model building, data security, and reporting

Direct experience using Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools, preferably Cognos v10x (Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Workspace, Framework Manager)

Strong analytical skills with some experience of designing and developing Business Information solutions using SQL Server or VB coding

You will have a working knowledge of current software development methodologies/strategies and experience in developing solutions

A strong understanding of working practices in the Marine Defence industry would be advantageous

A quick learner with a positive attitude, professional demeanour and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Able to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Location: Glasgow but Portsmouth could be considered. Potential for occasional travel between other UK sites.
