We currently have vacancies for Principal Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers and Software Engineers at our sites in New Malden or Dorchester

As a Software Engineer, you will be undertaking a range of software development activities in line with relevant processes, and designing software to ensure that the overall system will behave according to its requirements. You will be required to demonstrate Key Technical skills and be able to communicate strongly both verbally and in writing to management and peers.

In return, this role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills further within a supportive team environment across a wide range of project areas.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer will involve:

Designing software to ensure that the overall system will behave according to its requirements.

Writing software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying solutions.

Writing software test schedules and using them to test the system.

Documenting appropriate information, so that others can understand the software and the system.

Contributing to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works.

Liaising with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood.

Your skills and qualifications

Developing skills will be key to this role and relevant training will be provided however solid understanding of at least some of the following disciplines is essential:

Working knowledge of software design.

Coding standards.

Programming: ADA, C++, C# and .net framework.

Scripting: VB Script, PowerShell and Batch Job.

Software Integration and testing.

Configuration Management.

Windows Active Directory and Domain knowledge.

VMWare.

Networks.

Knowledge of Naval Combat Systems.

You will have strong communication skills and be able to build good working relationships with both management and your team. A positive attitude is key to the collaborative atmosphere within the team.
