Having revolutionised online grocery shopping based on our ground breaking technology Ocado are now engaging in exciting new international business opportunities implementing multiple automated fulfilment centres around the world.

The Functional Safety and Compliance Engineer is responsible for the support and maintenance of the functional safety of the Ocado Material Handling Equipment (MHE). The Functional Safety Engineer will work alongside the Product Development Functional Safety Lead in supporting the lifecycle of the installed products on various sites.

As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will need to receive any safety and compliance critical documentation released by the product development and support the install, testing and implementation of safety critical changes in our global automated warehouses.

You will act as a specialist consultant for field engineers and other product engineers. You will be closely working with product specialists, implementation teams, engineering operations and product development to ensure the functional safety standards are maintained across all the warehouses.

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience  for PUWER and CE Marking compliance on site for both existing machinery and new project delivery and acting as the site expert resource in machinery and functional safety.

You will have experience in the design of safety control systems and be technically proficient in all areas of Mechanical and Electrical machinery safety.

You will also have proven experience in functional safety within automotive or industrial automation industry. Specifically, the application of IEC 62061, IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 during front-end design and design execution.

As Functional Safety Engineer you will be flexible, willing to travel and comfortable in a dynamic, fast paced environment. You will have a “can do” and “in this together” attitude and approach to work within a cutting edge technology driven company and you will be able to perform unsupervised and under pressure on your own initiative.
