Principal Engineer (Assurance)
Would you like to play a key role in the delivery and development of submarine combat systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Assurance) to be based at either one of our sites in Weymouth, Frimley, Broad Oak or Filton.
As a Principal Engineer, you will conduct the engineering assurance within complex systems, undertaking regular liaison with senior level internal stakeholders, various customers & SMEs. You will be working with cutting edge technology on major engineering projects, offering assuring expertise to ensure processes and governance are adhered to and projects are delivered within budget and time scales and in line with Customers' requirements.
This role will provide you with multiple opportunities for growth and development both personally and within BAE Systems.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer (Assurance) will involve:
Assisting the Design Assurance Leads with design and product assurance across multiple engineering projects in accordance with the department's design and product assurance management plan
Providing scrutiny and conducting assessments of major engineering projects within our scope of supply across the engineering lifecycle
Travelling regularly throughout the UK to any BAE Systems submarine business or customer sites as and when required
Managing and conducting assessments before design reviews take place to ensure the various engineering teams are adhering to specific processes and governance that are in place
Assisting the Design Assurance Leads working in combat systems to ensure a common product across all boats
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential
Demonstrable experience within a complex systems environment
Demonstrable systems engineering experience
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience, in an engineering discipline
Desirable
To have been employed in a MoD project or similar industry position, with complex systems relevance, ideally within the military maritime or air domains

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet - essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
