Programme Engineering Manager

Would you like to play a leading role in delivering and supporting the military information systems & services of the future? Do you want to help ensure that our armed forces have the information intelligence advantage? We currently have a vacancy for a Programme Engineering Manager specialising in military information systems within our Defence Information business at our Christchurch site.

As a Programme Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a large and diverse engineering team to sustain an existing portfolio of systems and services, to support innovation ideas and develop new products of the future. You will work closely with the Programme Project Manager and Senior System Designer to deliver our customer commitments on time and on budget. You must have the ability, aptitude and confidence to take full ownership of key engineering plans, processes, budgets and milestones as well as taking on the softer challenges of team management.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your career and extend your knowledge in a niche and strategically important area of the business and provide you with the opportunity to work across a wide range of significant military land, air and sea platforms. Your main responsibilities as a Programme Engineering Manager will include:

  • Leadership to a large diverse engineering team of greater than 60 people
  • Scheduling and resource management of all major aspects of the programme
  • Adherence to business processes and governance
  • Facilitate the evolution of innovation ideas
  • Progress reviews and onward reporting

You will manage a growing team, all with an underlying passion for technology and drive to continually learn, innovate and demonstrate their skills and abilities to all stakeholders. You will have a track record as an engineering management that has been underpinned with practical hands on experience. You should have qualifications, skills or experience covering:

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
  • Project delivery methodologies
  • MoD or Industry IT projects and programmes
  • Information Assurance (IA)
  • Security architectures and COTS integration
  • Service management, ITIL and continual improvement

What we're looking for in you:

  • Recent experience delivering complex systems and services
  • Leadership and management of engineering teams
  • Behaviours, such as Collaboration; Inspiration; Creativity
  • Professional registration, chartership or willingness to obtain

You must be an excellent communicator, with the ability to manage people and build effective relationships. You must have the ability to think strategically and consider the bigger-picture with your role. The role will provide opportunities to travel both within the UK and abroad, and you will need to have or able to attain the required levels of security clearance for the role.

Location: Christchurch, Dorset

Salary: Up to £75,000 based on experience, with performance related bonus and car allowance
