An opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Technician based at Essex Police workshops in Laindon near Basildon.

This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to have a background or previous experience of working in a vehicle workshop environment. It is essential that you evidence a good understanding of vehicle maintenance, electrical systems, diagnostics and health and safety.

In this role you will be required to undertake the full duties of a Vehicle Technician carrying out the service, maintenance and commissioning of new vehicles, modifying all types of fleet and fitting specialised Police equipment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are an essential part of the role.

You will have experience, knowledge and a good understanding of the repair and maintenance of a wide range of vehicles with the ability to provide specialist advice on vehicle modification and repair.

A proven track record of the service, maintenance and diagnostics of a wide range of vehicles is essential and should be underpinned by a recognised qualification in vehicle repair and maintenance, equivalent to NVQ level 3.

A basic knowledge of computers is desirable as you will be required to input and retrieve vehicle details via the fleet management system.

Applicants must hold a full, clean driving licence.
