Hardware Team Leader

As a Hardware Team Leader, you will lead a team of highly skilled and experienced hardware engineers responsible for the design lifecycle of our electronic solutions for cutting-edge products such as Helmet Mounted & Head-Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors and other associated safety critical technology.

Your main responsibilities as a Hardware Team Leader will involve:

  • Managing and technical leadership of an electronics design team
  • Managing Work Packages; cost, schedule, risk & opportunities
  • Ensuring development programme execution in accordance with the hardware development plan
  • Providing technical governance and ensuring adherence to company design processes
  • Leading cost & performance trade-offs

Your skills and qualifications as a Hardware Team Leader:

  • Able to demonstrate high performance and achievement in leadership and management of engineering teams through a full product development lifecycle
  • Proven experience / knowledge of cost and planning management tools
  • Proven experience / knowledge of risk and opportunities management
  • Experience of optimising solutions and minimising impacts from dependencies
  • Experience of design and identifying improvements to working practices and team skill development
  • Proven understanding of product design and work package control

Working knowledge of the following tools would be advantageous:

  • Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise;
  • Requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS
  • Work package management tools, eg. MSP, JIRA, etc.

  • You will be a self-starter, with excellent people skills able to get the best out of a large team of mixed capability engineers in a highly dynamic environment
  • Able to effectively lead, coach and technically guide others
  • Articulate, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be confident, able to present at customer and senior level reviews
  • Have good relationship management skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with other disciplines to optimise solutions and minimise impacts
