Do you have a real passion for electromagnetics and test environments? Would you like to actively support the development of the Low Observable (LO) aspects of our current and next generation airborne platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Stealth Technology (Electromagnetics) Senior Test Engineer at our site in Warton.

As a Senior Electromagnetics Engineer, you will be working within a specialist team where you will enhance your experience and expertise in the modelling, measurement and test environment. Your main responsibilities will involve assessing the performance of small and large test objects for their stealth performance, maintaining facilities and enhancing our measurement capabilities. The role will involve a mixture of using your theoretical knowledge, analysis techniques and test environment work.

You will be provided with the opportunity for exposure and experience across electromagnetics engineering as well as the potential for exposure to other parts of the wider test and evaluation organisation. The role is a very wide ranging role and the Senior Electromagnetics Engineer will work closely with multiple functions and multiple disciplines both on and off site.

The role sits within a stable team of 25+ electromagnetic engineers which has evolved its knowledge base over many years of test and evaluation activities across multiple programmes of work.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Electromagnetics Engineer will involve:

• Delivery of the team objectives in accordance with time, cost and quality coupled with commercial awareness and effect on external cost and revenue
• Design and development of our products using EM modelling / measurement techniques
• Maintenance and development of our capabilities (e.g. test facilities, IT infrastructure and IT toolsets)
• Specification and procurement of new or replacement capabilities.
• Provision of Electromagnetics specialist advice to the wider BAE Systems business.
• Guiding and mentoring across the team

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Ideally, you will have a degree in one of the following - Physics, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Modelling, Systems Engineering. Additional relevant knowledge, experience and product expertise can offset the normal qualification requirements through direct Electromagnetics related experience and / or working with aircraft or similar programmes in a modelling / measurement / certification environment.

The above skills must be coupled with good team-working, personal time management and general communication abilities.

Experience within an engineering industry background.

You should be familiar with the overall systems engineering lifecycle

Possess a strong aptitude for technical problem-solving and decision-making.

Familiar with IT Tools e.g. CAD systems, control software.

Desirable

• 2-5 years of demonstrable knowledge in Radar and / or Infared theory, design and / or measurement
• Experience in a test environment and knowledge of maintaining facilities / capabilities in a safe manner
• Experience and background understanding of CAD and materials measurement from component to air platform level
