About the Role

You will carry out electronic and electrical assembly work to IPC and European Space Agency (ESA) Standards and other activities relating to the manufacture of electronic assemblies for use in space. You will be based at RAL within the Production & Software Group of the Imaging Systems Division within RAL Space. The Imaging Systems Division has a long-standing heritage of excellence in Space flight going back over 50 years. We build electronic systems for spaceflight and hence quality is paramount in our work. 

You will demonstrate a flexible approach, have a good engineering understanding, and a good eye for detail. Many of our projects are unique, and hence it's sometimes down to the technician to plan and organise the manufacture rather than to follow drawings. You will also be supervising junior technicians to ensure the best practice is promulgated within the Production Group.

About You

You will need to hold GCSE’S (or equivalent) in Maths an English, pass the visual acuity test resolving in being able to hold an ESA operator certificate and hold an ESA certificated, level 3.

You will need to have attended and passed the following ESA courses EO1, EO4, EO5 and EO6,7&8 high-reliability crimping or/ and wrapping. You will also need to have experience in using production management software.
