Shared Infrastructure Principal Console Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in undertaking a defined range of SI related, Systems engineering activities? We currently have a vacancy for a Shared Infrastructure Principal Console Engineer at our site in New Malden.

As a Shared Infrastructure Principal Console Engineer you will be working with a team of around 5 people but will be part of a bigger SI team of 85 people. This role is a technical role, which will involve hands on development and integration tasks.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside key stakeholders and project teams.

You will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology in a military environment.

Your main responsibilities as a Shared Infrastructure Principal Console Engineer will involve:

Carrying out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.

Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.

Preparing specifications, developing designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.

Acting as the main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on specific engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.

Participating fully in capturing requirements, designing, implementing and testing software for the Shared Infrastructure system with particular focus on the Common Console aspects.

Supporting the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in area(s) of expertise to facilitate the development of the highest quality bids.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment

We require a systems engineer, with significant experience using VMware, along with a strong systems engineering background. You'll have experience with many of the following:

  • VMWare Views experience (ideally views 6 but earlier ok)
  • vGPU technology
  • VNC
  • RDP
  • RemoteApp experience
  • PCoIP
  • Powershell scripting and automation

You must have the ability to articulate the technical knowledge across the business, take a complex message and break it down to different audiences. You will possess excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively on own or as part of a team.
