Purpose of Position
- Leadership of the mechanical design functional group on the AJAX programme.
- Develop a capability to produce high quality, efficient and innovative design solutions
- Deliver design output to support the programme schedule requirements
- Development of team performance via coaching, training and recruitment
- Be an effective team member supporting other business domains and the customer
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 30+ CAD and design engineers
- Setup and maintain a department organisation chart
- Develop design solutions for complex engineering problems
- Ensure design quality via application of appropriate review and governance
- Ensure design solutions are constructed to minimise cost to the business
- Deliver output to support schedule requirements
- Manage application of resources to ensure work is conducted efficiently
- Make appropriate decisions to ensure project priorities are accounted for
- Reporting of team output and performance metrics
- Development of staff to improve skills and performance
Education/Experience
- Successfully defined and developed complex design solutions
- Proficient user of Pro Engineer/Creo
- Proficient user of Windchill PDMLink
- Military Vehicle design
- Knowledge of standards relating to defence work e.g. Defence and MIL standards
