MBDA Missile Systems - Deliver For A More Secure Tomorrow
 
 
The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen in an agile and responsive team for an engineer to work across the entire product life cycle on a number of weapon systems liaising with a number of functions, sectors and senior leaders across MBDA.
The Project teams within Environmental Engineering are integral within all land, sea and air based weapons system projects. Environmental Project engineers provide a key technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept definition and product development, through design aid and formal qualification, and into in-service support. Expertise covers the areas of: requirements specification and management; data analysis; simulation and modelling; and testing in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock), structural mechanical and fatigue.
 
What are we looking for?
  • Ideally educated to degree level or with strong experience in managing projects in a laboratory environment.
  • Working experience of  Environmental Engineering, ideally within the defence sector
  • Thorough understanding of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments
  • Understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation
  • Good verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective at working in teams with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to push through the correct technical solution.
  • Driven, self-motivated and proactive in managing programmes of work

The Role
  • As an Environmental Project Engineer you will expected to work closely and build relationships with a range of MBDA functions, sectors and Chief Engineers including Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design and Proving teams.
  • Apply specialist technical knowledge and provide advice to projects, with responsibility for delivery of technical aspects of data analysis activities, as part of the MBDA EE&F UK Environmental Data Analysis Team
  • You will provide technical expertise in generating environmental requirements, developing robust product designs and defining and managing cost effective test strategies throughout the product development cycle. You will work closely with our existing team of highly experienced project and test engineers to define and manage test programmes.
  • Act as a technical interface with customers in the delivery of data analysis tasks or technical work packages, including data gathering trials and assessments, platform integration activities, and structural modal assessment, ensuring delivery to the required quality, timescale and budget.
  • Plan, deliver and monitor assigned work packages, making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority to ensure requirements are delivered to plan.
  • Some of the key challenges for the role include:
    • Effectively dealing with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently, cross-projects.
    • Interaction with the customer community at a high level, maintaining integrity of engineering outputs.
    • Contributing to EE&F strategy to keep pace with emerging technologies and threats.
