Trainee Mechanical Design/TDP Engineer

Would you like to support the development of Mechanical solutions? We currently have a vacancy for a Trainee Mechanical Design/TDP Engineer at our site in Barrow.

 

 

As a Trainee Mechanical Design/TDP Engineer, you will have opportunity to develop into an Mechanical Design/TDP Engineer working within a Weapon Systems Design Team on new and / or existing Products, through all stages: from the initial concept; design and development; testing of one or more prototypes; through to final manufacture and implementation of a new product or sub-system

 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your career within a growing area of our Weapons business, building on your existing knowledge and skillsets and furthering that through development plans.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Trainee Mechanical Design/TDP Engineer

will involve:

Support the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team

 

 

Support investigations into major problems or operational developments, individually or as a member of a project team

 

Gathering information on technical issues and reporting to more senior employees

 

Preparing drawings, and other technical outputs, consistent with the contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands

 

Operating the appropriate CAD and PDM Tools (PTC Creo and Teamcenter)

 

The generation of technical calculations and reports (MS Excel & Mathcad)

 

Developing FEA skills (Pro Simulate)

Following defined design and development processes; including product safety regulations requirements

 

Your skills and qualifications:

 

Relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

Demonstrate the ability to develop concept designs

Demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing/relevant industry

 

 

Understanding of technical office process standards and standard instructions is desirable
