Are you an electrical or electronics engineer or technician with a desire to work on a wide range of power conversion plant? 

Alternatively, are you a practical physicist interested in moving into electrical engineering? 

If so, we have a range of opportunities in all disciplines of electrical and electronic engineering from small signal digital/analogue electronics, control and instrumentation; through to working on large megawatt power electronic converters and rotating machines. 

Your key areas of responsibility may include: 

- Ownership and operation as well as the maintenance, repair and provision of upgrades to pulsed power supplies plant. 

- Contributing to electrical infrastructure and distribution projects. 

- Involvement and direct contribution to power infrastructure and power converters projects. 

- Lead or contribute to exciting technological projects across UKAEA programmes. 

The Power Supplies Operation Unit operates, maintains and develops the pulsed power converters for the Joint European Torus (JET), the largest operating Tokamak in the world and the UK`s new Tokamak MAST-U that will position UKAEA at the centre of international fusion research for many years to come.

Knowledge skills and experience 

Essential 
All roles require: 

- Extensive industrial experience in electrical, electronic, power engineering OR HND / equivalent qualification 

In addition to the above, for higher engineering roles, we require you to have: 

- Degree level qualification, preferably Honours, or significant length and breadth of industrial experience. 

Desirable 
- Hands on plant experience 

- Practical experience fault finding at both component and system level. 

Special requirements: 
- Participation in rostered operational shift work may be required (1 week in 4)
